As a child from rural Africa, when I took this original photo in London back in the 1980s, I was struck by the sheer number of pigeons, the hustle of traffic, and the vast expanses of concrete - all gathered in one place. My place of birth seemed like an alien landscape to me then, and in many ways, it still does.
