Description
I go through seasons where I obsessively delve into topics that catch my attention. Carlos Guerrer sent me a series of photographs of Eskimos wearing their traditional visors to protect themselves from glare. The artifacts amazed me for their function as safety devices that include side effects such as altered vision, and on the other hand, their design, as well as the aesthetics of their wearers.
These visors have made me reflect on all the security measures implemented to survive adversity, initially temporary, but which become part of our aesthetics. For me, they can also be toys tailored to my needs and sensory experiments to imagine, model, use, portray, and share. The set of ceramic works is titled Security.
