Description
COMA BERENICES means “Berenice’s Hair” and it represents the long hair of Queen Berenice II of Egypt. According to legend, the Queen shaved and gave her beautiful blonde hair as an offering to goddess Aphrodite when Berenice’s husband returned home after a military victory. Its brightest star is Beta Comae Berenices and it was introduced as a constellation by cartographer Caspar Vopel in 1536.
