Description
INDUS means “Indian” in Latin and the constellation refers to a native of either Asia or the Americas at the time the constellation was created. There are no myths related to to this dim group of stars. Indus was created by the Dutch astronomer Petrus Plancius in the late 16th century and it was first represented in a star atlas by Johann Bayer in 1603. Persian is the name of its brightest star.
