Description
MUSCA means “fly” in Latin. Unlike most constellations, Musca does not have any significant mythological associations directly linked to its name. Instead, it was named Musca because it resembled a fly. The brightest star in this constellation is Alpha Muscae. It was first cataloged by Dutch navigators Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman in the late 16th century during their exploration of the southern hemisphere.
